Therapy

Clinical Care That Honors the Whole Person

We provide evidence-based mental health and substance use treatment within the structure of Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) and Sondercove Foundation. Our clinicians work collaboratively with participants and their care teams to address emotional distress, trauma, behavioral health challenges, and substance use concerns.

Therapy

What Participants Can Expect

Participants can expect therapy that is grounded in respect, cultural awareness, and an understanding that mental health does not exist outside of lived experience. While therapy is a clinical service, our approach recognizes the importance of identity, community, and the realities many individuals face when navigating mental health and substance use challenges, particularly within Black communities.

Services may take place in homes or other community settings when appropriate, allowing therapy to feel more accessible and connected to everyday life. Our clinicians work to create a space where participants feel seen, heard, and understood, while supporting them in developing coping strategies, processing experiences, and strengthening their overall wellbeing. Therapy remains aligned with each participant’s goals and recovery plan, ensuring care is both meaningful and purposeful.

Therapy as a Space for Cultural Healing and Liberation.

We recognize that for many Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, traditional therapy has historically missed the mark or caused harm. At Sondercove Wellness, we seek to change that by creating therapeutic spaces where people can explore their full selves, be affirmed, and experience healing that honors their truth.

Culturally Responsive Care

Sondercove Wellness recognizes that mental health does not exist outside of culture, community, and systemic realities. Our therapeutic approach acknowledges the impact of racism, trauma exposure, and social inequities on mental health outcomes.

We prioritize culturally responsive care that affirms identity, respects lived experience, and supports healing within the broader context of community and environment.
