Mateo Marek
Mateo Marek (He/Him/Elle) brings an intersectional understanding of care from his own lived experiences as an Indigiqueer adoptee which deeply informs his personal and professional practices cultivating collective healing through community building and storytelling. He is a certified Service Facilitator at Sondercove Wellness and the Director of Storytellers Connect, an Indigenous community platform. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s of Arts degree with majors in Psychology, Critical Identity Studies, and Health & Society from Beloit College. Mateo’s interdisciplinary training provides him an expansive skill set rooted in identifying systemic barriers, empowering people, and facilitating transformative justice. His values of community and social justice are reflected through his activism and commitment to the health and wellbeing of ALL people.
Mateo’s intersectional understanding of the impacts of health and wellbeing are also informed by various communities, identities, and environments he has engaged with through collaborative and independent initiatives. He continues to support BIPOC and Queer communities by ensuring accessibility to resources and education, and creating safe spaces for marginalized peoples.
As a Service Facilitator, Mateo prioritizes empathetic practices in decolonizing colonial wounds, building conflict resilience, and freedom dreaming through trauma-informed methods that build reciprocity and intentional care. His services center approaches and educational resources informed by positive psychology, somatic therapy, and health equity.
