Housing Supportive Services

Overview of Housing Services at Sondercove Wellness
At Sondercove Wellness, we view housing as more than just a basic need—it’s a foundation for recovery, safety, and dignity. Our services are uniquely grounded in peer support values and rooted in the understanding that housing instability is often tied to systemic barriers and compounded life stressors. We work to walk alongside individuals as they explore, secure, and maintain safe, stable, and affirming housing.

How Services Are Typically Provided
Housing services are delivered in-person, in the community, virtually, or at a location that feels safe and accessible to the individual. Our team of providers includes those with both lived experience and professional expertise in housing systems, making our support deeply empathetic and actionable.

Whether someone is unhoused, couch surfing, recently housed, or facing housing-related stressors, we tailor our services to meet their unique goals—without judgment and always with respect for their autonomy.

What Services Typically Entail

  • Supporting individuals in identifying their ideal housing situation, including location, accessibility, and household structure

  • Assistance with completing housing applications, subsidy forms, and waitlists (including Section 8, public housing, or project-based units)

  • Navigating communication with property managers or landlords, including negotiating lease terms, responding to concerns, and understanding tenant rights

  • Coordinating with community resources such as shelters, housing outreach workers, and case managers

  • Providing guidance around housing readiness, including gathering necessary documents, budgeting for rent, and setting up utilities

  • Supporting transitions from homelessness, incarceration, domestic violence shelters, or inpatient settings into permanent housing

  • Exploring long-term housing stability strategies, such as identifying natural supports, addressing barriers to maintaining housing, and advocating for accommodations related to mental health or disability

Our services are grounded in dignity and choice—we do not force any steps or timelines but instead offer steady and consistent support at the peer’s pace.

Specialized Staff Expertise
Our housing team includes professionals with diverse and specialized expertise:

  • Dominique Christian, founder of Sondercove Wellness, brings over five years of experience in the housing sector and remains deeply engaged in local housing networks to support peers with complex housing needs.

  • Our providers have extensive knowledge of local and regional housing programs, as well as how trauma, criminal records, substance use history, and system involvement impact housing access.

We also support individuals in navigating the emotional toll that housing instability can cause. This includes helping peers process experiences of displacement, grief, and systemic harm while building new definitions of safety and home.

Housing as a Pathway to Wellness
We believe that everyone deserves safe and stable housing, regardless of their past or present circumstances. Our approach weaves together practical housing navigation with emotional support and advocacy. By combining these elements, we offer a holistic experience that recognizes the full humanity of each person we serve.
