Hello! And Welcome

Sondercove Wellness was founded in 2024

Dominique Christian, President & CEO Thank you for visiting Sondercove, a Black-led center for peer support and community wellness serving Madison, Dane County, and communities across Wisconsin.

We provide culturally responsive, peer-led mental health and substance use support through Wisconsin’s Comprehensive Community Services (CCS), youth and parent peer programming, recovery-focused services, and community-based care rooted in lived experience.
On this site, you will find information about our peer support services, Black mental health initiatives, youth and family programs, recovery and harm reduction support, workforce development opportunities, and ways to partner with or contribute to our mission.
Whether you are seeking support for yourself or someone you care about, exploring culturally responsive mental health services in Madison, or looking to join a growing movement in community-based care, you belong here.

We believe in the power of people’s stories and in creating spaces where those stories can be shared without shame, fear, or judgment. The word sonder reminds us that every person we meet is living a life as complex and layered as our own, carrying histories, struggles, hopes, and resilience that often go unseen. That understanding shapes how we practice peer support in Madison and across Dane County and Wisconsin. As a Black-led center for peer support and community wellness, we approach mental health and substance use support with cultural humility, lived experience, and deep respect for autonomy. Whether someone connects with us through Comprehensive Community Services (CCS), youth peer support, parent peer support in Wisconsin, recovery support in Madison WI, or reentry mental health support after incarceration, we see challenges within the broader social, racial, and community contexts that influence wellbeing. We believe the person is not the problem; systems, trauma, and isolation often are. Our work is holistic and community-based, grounded in Black mental health awareness, harm reduction, trauma-informed care in Madison, and Medicaid services in Wisconsin that make support accessible. Healing does not happen in isolation—it happens in relationship, in community, and in spaces where dignity is protected and hope is sustained.
