April Kigeya
April Kigeya is a seasoned community leader with over 15 years of experience supporting children, families, and underrepresented communities. She has a proven background in conducting assessments, building individualized plans, and offering one-on-one guidance that helps individuals navigate challenges with housing, employment, health, and daily living.
Her direct work has included facilitating skill-building groups focused on emotional regulation, coping strategies, and communication, as well as providing individualized support that promotes resilience, self-advocacy, and community connection. April is also experienced in crisis intervention and de-escalation, ensuring that those she supports feel safe, heard, and empowered during high-stress moments.
With a strong commitment to equity, April has developed and led programs that reduce barriers to care and expand access to culturally responsive services. She is highly skilled in documentation, accountability, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
April’s leadership extends beyond direct support, as she has managed budgets, implemented policies, and served in governance roles where she advocated for systemic change. Recognized as one of Wisconsin’s most influential Black leaders, April brings both professional expertise and lived leadership to her work. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Business Administration at Edgewood College, further strengthening her ability to support individuals holistically through recovery and wellness.
