Heather Corcoran began her work in housing advocacy over a decade ago. She is a sixth generation Madisonian and understands the barriers that community members struggle with when finding sustainable housing in the Dane County area. Her passion came from lived life experience growing up in the child welfare system and being a single mother who navigated parenting while experiencing poverty.

Heather has dedicated her career to supporting individuals and families navigate housing insecurity by working in homeless shelters and shelters for people who have experienced domestic violence. Heather has found success in collaboratively developing a housing program for CCS program participants facing housing insecurity and currently works with a public housing authority.

Heather specializes in meeting people where they are at and building trusting relationships that are rooted in mutual respect with her peers. The forefront of the work Heather does is to help individuals build skills that will empower all their abilities. Heather has adopted the motto of housing being a bundle of goods. To each individual, what is encompassed in that bundle of goods is unique and necessary in maintaining stability.  Heather’s background and passion for affordable housing reflects a strong commitment to working alongside individuals facing housing insecurity as a united front.  Empowering all to understand how to access housing, which she believes is a human right for all.
