Meet Our Founder: Dominique Christian

Dominique Christian is the founder of Sondercove Wellness, a mental health and recovery organization rooted in lived experience, cultural humility, and holistic healing practices. A proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Master’s in Social Work and a United States Army veteran, Dominique blends discipline, compassion, and visionary leadership into every aspect of her work.

Her innovative approach to recovery services has reshaped healing spaces across Wisconsin and beyond, offering culturally relevant peer support, parent peer support, clinical consultation, community healing spaces, and professional development rooted in trauma-informed care. Dominique’s leadership has earned her honors such as BRAVA’s Women to Watch, 40 Under 40, and the Athena Young Professional Leadership Award.

She is also the author of Beyond the Noise of Societal Demands, a book used within the Wisconsin prison system and Mendota Mental Health Institute to inspire self-determination and community care. Her trainings and workshops have reached audiences nationwide through collaborations with Comprehensive Community Services (CCS), Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services, the New York State Office of Mental Health, and national peer support initiatives.

Dominique remains deeply committed to building sustainable, community-led solutions, centering marginalized communities including Black individuals, foster system–impacted youth, LGBTQIA+ members, those within carceral facilities, and aging adults. Her work continues to break barriers, ensuring lived experience and authentic cultural connection are at the heart of recovery.
