Tamiko Dixon

Tamiko Dixon is a dedicated social work professional with more than 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Her professional background includes child welfare, juvenile justice, permanency planning, foster care, family advocacy, trauma-informed practice, and psychoeducation.

Throughout her career, Tamiko has supported individuals and families experiencing trauma, family separation, involvement with the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and barriers to accessing needed services and resources. She also spent seven years as a treatment foster parent, an experience that strengthened her understanding of the challenges families may face from both a professional and personal perspective.

Tamiko earned her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with a minor in Criminal Justice, and is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at Walden University. She is a licensed social worker in Wisconsin and has additional training in Child and Adolescent Development and Mental Health First Aid for both youth and adults.

At Sonder Cove Wellness, Tamiko brings a strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed approach to psychoeducation. She believes that providing people with knowledge, practical tools, and a better understanding of their experiences can help them recognize their strengths, develop new skills, and feel more empowered in making positive changes in their lives.

Her professional interests include adolescents and young adults, trauma, foster care and child welfare, family systems, reentry, individuals and families impacted by incarceration, and helping people build the skills and resources needed for greater stability and independence.
