Anders Mordechai
Anders Mordechai (he/him) was born and raised in Dallas, TX, and moved to Madison in 2021, seeking a cooler climate and a safe place to set down roots and transition. Since then, he has been working in housing, where he has found success in providing housing support and resources to the community. His journey has led him to be a passionate advocate for affordable, stable, accessible housing for all, which he understands as an essential part of healing and growth for both people and the communities we live in.
He is dedicated to fostering culturally-responsive, trauma-informed relationships, rooted in respect and self-determination, that can serve as a catalyst for empowering transitions and transformations in people's lives. Anders meets people where they are at, working together with them to create a collaborative roadmap to achieving their goals and building the skills & strength necessary to both take the first step and keep moving forward on their best path to their best future. He takes a holistic, person-centered approach to support, helping people to find a balance between holding space for the impact of their past while also meeting the needs of their present and making room to grow into the future they envision.
Through his work, Anders walks alongside his peers and creates a safe, non-judgmental space for folks to feel truly heard and seen, where they can seek connections with nature and their community as a part of their journey. When providing support, he draws on both his professional experience in housing and his own lived experiences navigating high-stress living situations, complicated moves, changing households, and housing insecurity as a chronically ill & neurodivergent Jewish trans man. He believes every person deserves the support they need to not just survive but thrive and bloom.
